Let’s fix the gender career gap together.
Hi there, I am Johanna Spiller and I aim to fix the gender gap, one company at a time.
No purpose without profit
I stand for closing the gender career gap in the Netherlands. And I am specifically passionate about championing female value in the tech industry and equal pay. To achieve that, I founded several companies that are commited to bringing that change. At Alyx, we retrain women in tech and assist them in kickstarting their careers at one of our partner companies. But that’s not all. We ensure that they are not only paid equally within the industry but also compensated for the national gender pay gap. I founded Alyx to eliminate the outdated notion in tech that ‘we would like to hire more women, but we cannot find them.’ Smart, hardworking, and capable women
are out there, eager and motivated to start their careers in tech. All that’s needed is to equip them with technical skills and offer them an opportunity. I am incredibly proud that since our launch in 2022, we have worked with 40 female tech talents, aiding them in taking their first steps in the tech industry. However, my pride doesn’t just stem from providing women with opportunities but also from creating companies that are truly designed for women. Beyond teaching them technical skills, we have developed a change agent program with Klapstoel Academy in which we teach women impactful skills to assert themselves in the industry and bring the much-needed cultural shift to their partner companies. A key aspect of our approach is that our female tech talents receive a 13% pay gap bonus on top of their salary to properly
compensate them for the unfair gender gap. This bonus is deposited into our Alyx Fund, which becomes available to them for ongoing education and training once they leave Alyx to work for their partner company. This initiative is our way of setting female tech talents on their path to becoming future leaders in tech. The pay gap bonus is adjusted annually based on the latest statistics. From an entrepreneurial perspective, it’s clear that we not only make an impact on the lives of young women and help companies become more diverse in their tech departments, but we also demonstrate that doing the right thing is good business. In our first year of operation, we were able to achieve over 1 million EUR in revenue.
with love,
Johanna
